These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Pastoral Mentorship application and website (collectively, “the Service”), operated by the Center for Community Change at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Andrews University (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
The Service supports a structured pastoral mentorship program that pairs experienced mentors with pastors and church leaders. It provides tools for scheduling mentoring sessions, completing assessments, tracking progress, sharing session notes and goals, messaging, and optionally synchronizing scheduled sessions with a connected Google Calendar.
2. Eligibility
The Service is intended for pastors, mentors, church leaders, and program administrators participating in the mentorship program. It is not directed to children under 13, and you must be old enough to form a binding agreement to use the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with any rules of your church, conference, or institution.
3. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for the information you provide and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account. You may sign in using email and password or, where available, with a third-party sign-in provider such as Google.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• Access, tamper with, or use accounts, data, or systems that you are not authorized to access;
• Upload or transmit content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, or harmful;
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service; or
• Attempt to reverse engineer or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of the content you create in the Service, such as assessment responses, notes, goals, and messages (“User Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, and display your User Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and the other authorized participants in your mentorship relationship (for example, your mentor, mentee, or program administrators). You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of your User Content.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its program curriculum, assessments, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for your User Content and rights expressly granted to you, no rights are transferred to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our prior written permission.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services, including Google (sign-in and Google Calendar), Supabase (database and authentication), and video-conferencing providers. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. The Service provides mentorship and ministry-support tools and does not constitute professional, legal, financial, or counseling advice.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, to use the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive will survive.
11. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
